They actually mean, be home all day because we might come as early as ten and as late as never!!!! Am I right, people?"

*blank stares from the audience*

I've got the new mattress - now all I need is a brick wall to stand in front of!

It was pretty hard to get a paying job this summer as a first-year law student, as you might imagine. Only like 5% of our class managed to snag one, and I'm sure not in that 5%. I'm not really complaining - taking a paying job would have most likely meant a summer alone in a studio apartment in Houston or Dallas, which would have been pretty lonely. The money would probably come in handy, but as the Beatles said, "you can't always get what you want". Regardless, it looks like if this whole in-state tuition thing pans out, we should be on track to get out of law school with zero debt, which would be mighty swell.

In the meantime, I'm working this summer as a judicial intern for the Court of Criminal Appeals here in Texas. This is the highest state court in Texas for criminal matters. It's kind of an interesting gig. I'm not really permitted to write about the details of some of the cases I've been working on, but I think it's probably safe to tell you that holy hell some people are seriously terrible. Also, crack makes people do really bad things in order to procure more crack. After one week of reading briefs and court records at this job, I've learned more about crack than I ever knew before. So, yay?

There are a few other things going on law-school wise, or at least that were going on like five months ago, but the only one I particularly feel like mentioning at the moment is that I was selected to be the choreographer for next year's edition of the law school musical. I am hell of graceful, people. Hell of graceful.

Also, I know it's by the Rolling Stones, I just wanted to make you angry.

I have decided to EMBRACE DANGER by posting again!

That other blog I "started" was actually a non-starter anyway. Turns out there's already like 5,000,000 blogs out there with self-absorbed law students writing about law school stuff, but there is only ONE blog where I've been postin' since 2001 about all manner of stuff, so no reason to be lame and let it die. I've been keeping up with my friends page, so I know most of what is going on with y'all, which is pretty great! Also, I can pretty effortlessly say "y'all" now, which is also pretty great!

if you were worried, I am still a pretty enthusiastic dude about most things!

Hi there!

So, I've decided to more or less, officially unofficially (for the most part), retire this journal. This is perhaps a bit of a silly move after I just paid to rename the thing, but I see no reason to discontinue my tradition of silly moves.

1) I'll still be reading my friends page and commenting and whatnot;
2) I will still probably post in here every now and then, particularly if I want to talk about something that doesn't fit the theme of:
3) The new blog I've started. And if you feel so inclined, you can ring my bell if you want to know where to find it so's you can add it to your Google Reader or whatever. (Comments screened on this post if you want to leave your e-mail address or something.)

I like Livejournal, and I am fond of everybody on my friends list, and writing here has been fun, but it is pretty much time to move on for a variety of reasons! Plus, my new blog is going to be more amusing and interesting and might even give you a kind of sexy feeling when you read it, sometimes.

Anyway, have fun with the things that you do, okay, team?

For a variety of reasons, this journal is going the dreaded "friends only" route shortly. I'm not terribly pleased about it, but that's the way the walrus galumphs these days. Anyway, if you're not a LiveJournal member and you've been reading this thing, now would be a good time to either say goodbye forever or else sign up and be my friend, LJ-style.

Cheers!
